British Flight heading to London was Forced to Go back To Chicago After Engine Fails
This British Airway flight going to London was suddenly forced to
return back to O’Hare International Airport at Sunday evening after unresolved mechanical issues which caused one of the plane’s engines to be shut down completely.
According to a British Airways
spokeswoman, the
British Airways flight, left O’Hare at around 5:30 p.m on Sunday, but had to turn and head back to the
airport at 8 p.m after the one of the flight crew shut down an engine
experiencing a sudden “surge in power,” .
“This is standard
practice and a procedure our highly trained flight crew will practice
during their rigorous and regular testing,” the spokeswoman continued.
The
plane, which was traveling to Heathrow Airport, was forced to dump fuel
over Lake Michigan as it returned to O’Hare, according to Chris
Robertson, a Twitter user who said he was on the flight.
After the plane landed safely,
the representatives from British Airways had to make arrangements for hotel accommodations and
new flight reservations for affected customers, the spokeswoman added..
They sincerely apologized for the inconveniences that it may have caused.
