IDOT Is Now Hiring Snow Drivers for The Winter
The popular Illinois Department of Transportation is currently looking for temporary employees to help with snow and ice removal this coming winter.
IDOT
says it's now hiring people for full-time and on-call positions
across Illinois. The application deadline is Sept. 13.
The
yearly "snowbird" program requires the workers to respond and ready
to work in emergency situations at any given time, which also including nights
shift, weekends and holidays. According to IDOT, the requirements include that
the applicants must have a commercial driver's license and pass a criminal
background check. Meanwhile, Vision testing, drug and alcohol screening and a pr-employment physical will also be required.
The winter seasonal program usually take place from Oct 16th through April 15th.
The Full-time temporary employees job involves helping to maintain
highways, including repair and upkeep of roads and bridges. On-call workers
operate snow plows and salt spreaders during emergency weather situations.
